Water and ink don’t mix unless
the water ink’s caught in isn’t fresh
but an alternative form that’s warm
and filled with salt.
For you’ll find it takes the sting of tears
(that corrosive conduit of ideas)
to bring the two together forever
upon a page –
A fragile sheet that easily frays
then quickly burns, or slowly decays
as its substance yearns to return
to it’s pride of place
in the elemental ether.
