How I Amuse My Poetry Muse Vol VII

Beneath a summer moon
In a sky of faded blue,
A murmuration of starlings
Swell and swirl,
And sigh and swoop.

A thousand flitting shapes
That sweep across the seamless space
In swathes like nimble little needles,
Trying to weave
A tapestry
With threads of spun splendor and grace.
(Inspired by #TLPoetry ‘Splendor’)

My scarred and scratched skeleton,
With bite marks on my bones
Where inspiration took hold
As it shook me to my soul, and
Turned my marrow midnight blue.
(Inspired by #TheSmellOfWords prompt ‘Ink Stained Bones’)

Storm beneath my skin –
A tempest slowly gathering,
A swelling sea of ecstasy
That broils, then bursts from deep within
The purest part of me.
(Inspired by #lionsighs prompt ‘Tempest In My Veins’)

The morning chorus comes;
The chance for birds to come
across the land
in a gentle explosion of song.

It’s a most harmonious time;
As birds take pains to tell
each other
these subtle words
in their voices so sublime:
“Fuck off fellas – this branch is mine.”
(Inspired by #microprompt ‘Wake’)

Fate’s pendulum swings
Back and forth throughout our lives;
Never resting, but
Always testing
us, so that we strive
To make the most of everything
That its constant whims

I love words; both reading and writing them. I've started this site in order to have a depository for all the random ramblings which are continually swirling around my mind. Some of the aforementioned ramblings may be quite serious but the majority probably won't be. I'm a single mother living in Norwich. I'm also autistic. This isn't the defining component of my personality, although it is a significant one, and one which I think has a heavy influence on my writing, which is why I choose to highlight it. I also feel no shame over being autistic and refuse to perceive it as a disability. The way I see it, life is hard work whichever way your brain is wired up. Aside from all things wordy, I also love music. I find it to be an incredible mood enhancer, as well as a great enabler for the imagination. I love all kinds of music, though hard house in particular - as everything in life is better when it's hard... I hope you enjoy my musings and thank you for reading! I can also be found on
