How I Amuse My Poetry Muse Vol III

Corners drawn and
Dimples ready.
Her super-sharp-shooter-mouth motionless,
Slick scarlet silencer
Stops a chamber
Loaded with desire.

She winks her eye
Cocks the trigger;
In her hands a semi… automatic
She knows I’m ready as
She parts her lips
Then lets the bullets fly.
(Inspired by #MadVerse Prompt ‘Gunslinger Smile’)

At night, I dive into my inner sea
Down, deep down, to where my dreams dwell.
Daylight brings shades of their depths back to me,
Like the echo of waves
In an empty sea shell.

I could feel my face glowing pink with surprise
When you bid me to kiss you with come hither eyes
But your cherry-red lips soft as summertime dew
Grew pale, then poured carrot chunks right on my shoes.

Metal throat gurgling
Its melody burbling
Around smooth stones,
The fountain
Scales to the top
Of its heavenly range,
Then sighs away into
Murmuring earth.
(Inspired by #WrittenRiver Prompt ‘Gurgling Fountain’)

After a break-up
It takes time to mend,
If you rebound
Too quickly
You heart gets the bends.

So don’t be ashamed
To face life on your own,
For love’s wounds will
Heal quickly
If you leave them alone.

“Just a little longer,”
Were the last words he said,
Before he slipped into the night.

Then a blue siren’s lights,
Brought a murder of crows
With black beaks cawing:
“He is dead.”

I love words; both reading and writing them. I've started this site in order to have a depository for all the random ramblings which are continually swirling around my mind. Some of the aforementioned ramblings may be quite serious but the majority probably won't be. I'm a single mother living in Norwich. I'm also autistic. This isn't the defining component of my personality, although it is a significant one, and one which I think has a heavy influence on my writing, which is why I choose to highlight it. I also feel no shame over being autistic and refuse to perceive it as a disability. The way I see it, life is hard work whichever way your brain is wired up. Aside from all things wordy, I also love music. I find it to be an incredible mood enhancer, as well as a great enabler for the imagination. I love all kinds of music, though hard house in particular - as everything in life is better when it's hard... I hope you enjoy my musings and thank you for reading! I can also be found on
