How I Amuse My Poetry Muse Vol II

The day unfurls in hushed tones;
A collared dove puffing
Like a steam riverboat,
As leaves whisper secrets
To a sighing sky.
Somewhere there’s the buzz
Of a lawnmower grazing,
As I tap a sonnet
To this lush universe.
(Inspired by #TheSmellofWords Prompt ‘Hushed Tones’)

‘Farewell to the Gloaming’

A lone blackbird sings
Fine-tuning the quiet orchestra of the heavens.
The world holds its breath, and waits
For the symphony of starlight
To begin.

She’s a diseased succubus;
It’s a sloppy form of fornication
But when you inhale her stale
Fermented flesh, you’ll feel your
Loins grow riddled with her lust.
(Inspired by #horrorprompt ‘Diseased Succubus’)

People say
If you go into the forest
Take care not to stray from the track
For the trees
Try to tempt you away
Through the music they play
But don’t listen
Or you won’t come back…
(Inspired by #WrittenRiver Prompt ‘The forest and its secrets’)

Take a midnight swim
In an Ocean of Poems
Feel its currents flowing
From deep within.

Underneath my skin
There’s a tidal wave growing
And I follow it, knowing
I must sink or swim
(Inspired by #oceanofpoems)

I love words; both reading and writing them. I've started this site in order to have a depository for all the random ramblings which are continually swirling around my mind. Some of the aforementioned ramblings may be quite serious but the majority probably won't be. I'm a single mother living in Norwich. I'm also autistic. This isn't the defining component of my personality, although it is a significant one, and one which I think has a heavy influence on my writing, which is why I choose to highlight it. I also feel no shame over being autistic and refuse to perceive it as a disability. The way I see it, life is hard work whichever way your brain is wired up. Aside from all things wordy, I also love music. I find it to be an incredible mood enhancer, as well as a great enabler for the imagination. I love all kinds of music, though hard house in particular - as everything in life is better when it's hard... I hope you enjoy my musings and thank you for reading! I can also be found on
